Moments With Two of My Boys...

I love the books I find Eli with.





Noey loves his dinosaurs.





He is our big singer. He sits in the back and sings with his big brothers. :) It tickles us. Hee hee...





The big brothers build him great big towers to knock over.





They are also teaching him to jump.








My mother handed this down to him and he sits in it and watches his shows. He must have a sippy in his little "theater".





It is so fun to watch them day in and day out.

Recent Schooling Moments and Some Books Remy and I LOVED!

It is so neat and a little bittersweet to see a new normal in our lives with Noah now. School moments happen more often in our house. Or rather, schooling moments that *I* am aware of. It makes me feel relieved...but it also reminds me how big that baby is getting! Wah! I can never be happy. I seem to always have one foot in the past and the other foot not quite willing to step completely into the future. *sigh*


I love to find the boys all cuddled up together doing school. It blesses my heart. I know it must not mean as much to them right now. Remy is all about being close to Eli and being near him. They remind me of puppies.





Remy and I read this book "The Other Dog". I cried with this one. I haven't posted about my sweet Juliet (Dewy) Doggie, but we held her and talked to her as she passed on from this earth recently. The dog in this book IS her. It looks like her, acts like her, and the baby is Eli. The writer acquired this dog while acting in a play. I purchased Juliet while in the height of my play acting and dance lessons. I was young, she was my first baby, and she was with me before I had Matthew and my sweet family. The same with this dog. I will be buying this one. Matthew was so shocked to see such a book...it was that CLOSE to our own story with Dewy Doggie.








I had Remy tell about some things that happened and draw a picture from the book. I love his drawing.





Another day Remy and I read another book called "My Brother Dan's Delicious". It was too cute! I think every little boy would like it. A young boy finds himself alone and starts to see monsters in every corner or thinks they are waiting for him around each turn. He keeps telling them his brother is delicious! HA HA!

Remy and I also read "The Junkyard Wonders" and I again, cried. Remy says he is a bit disgusted with all the crying I do with children's books. I try to hold it in, I do! This one was too sweet. A little girl has problems learning to read and is placed in a "special" class she is not happy about at first. A teacher and the students of that year change her forever. The author of the book is the little girl. You gotta love that!








Elijah has also been adding to his Science Museum. Some more animal print casts and some lenses and mirrors were added.








SEE, lots of school going on here at our house. :)

A Sweet Eli Moment and His Book Report!

Eli wrote the sweetest thing during journal time in school. I love his heart. Enjoy. :)





He will also tell you that it was SWWWWWEEEETTTT to finish his book report. HA HA! This one was his best yet!

Used Book Sale ~ Homeschool Group

Our local homeschool group is one of the big things I think of when we start talking about moving again. Although I have used it at times heavily, and at others not at all, I love this group. No where else have I ever heard of anything that comes close to it. One of the things my whole family loves is the used book sale they put together each year. My husband takes off for it each time and adds to my "to buy" pile, thanks hun. :)


I really went a little insane. I bought so many board books for Noah. He sits and looks through books all day long. Matthew found a great dictionary that is much better than the one we had. It is so easy to use, too. I love the CPR mannequin he also found. I can't wait to teach that to the boys.


I will not bore you to death with what all we bought. We left with arms full of new things to use in our homeschool and at play. It is also fun to see all those great ladies I love there. ;)

It just so happened that we began looking at teeth in our homeschool when Remy finally decided to have that huge gap in the top of his mouth. ;)

Remy delighted in the different ways children all over the world celebrated this HUGE milestone. We found that most either have a faerie visit them, a mouse, or they just throw it on the roof or bury the tooth. Very interesting...I had no clue!

Books we have enjoyed this past week.

Remy read this book about air and boy did he learn alot.

I have always known that they learn by reading. I see it in our school time all the time. In their private reading I just know they read the book. I may ask what their favorite part was, but that was it. We joined up on www.bookadventure.com and they give little quizzes for the books they read and the children can redeem prizes and I can make up prizes that they would like, such as an hour on www.neopets.com, if they gather 500 reading points.

Anyway, when Remy took the quiz on his air book I was shocked at how much he had taken from it.

Remy has been studying George Washington and we read this one together as a bedtime story for a few nights.

It was really sweet and it was about the child behind the man. :)

This next book was GREAT for Halloween time. If you have a little boy who loves bugs, this one is a must this month.

I found this one when I was studying birds with Elijah. It was very good! Eli loved one certain part of the book. Scientists used to believe that birds clung to each other beaks to wings all in one big ball of bird and they slept underwater for the winter. Crazy, huh?

Art Time and Reading Time

Remy is always finding something in a book that he wants to draw. I love it. :)

He even decorates himself. Don't you just love the stars on his forehead? :)

He read this book because he is of course my little bug boy.

And then we went to visit our own garden. I am so upset with our corn! I will be putting in a call to my grandfather so I can decide what to do differently.

Elijah made planes with paper folding one night and he just so happened to have on plane jammies. :)

A Wrinkle In Time

Elijah finished his newest read, "A Wrinkle In Time", this weekend. I had picked it up from the library and sat it in his reach. He looked at it once and didn't seem to want to read it. One day he was bored and picked it up. He was so into it that he told Matthew, my husband, to leave him alone. He wouldn't allow any of us to talk to him.

He says:

I like that they had to use their family love to save their father.

Now this wouldn't tell you how sweet he is to us, now would it? ;)

Used Book Sales

Oh how I love them!

We went to our local used homeschooling curriculum sale and I made out! We got lots of neat things, but the best deal was the spanish I and II (two complete years) for only 6 dollars. They would have been 200 dollars brand new. I think it is a very neat idea for homeschooling mamas to hold these sales and pass on the materials when they are done.

My friend Sabrina said that it was like being in a candy store! Hee hee...

Remy bought lots of stuff with his money. He even got anole food and a tadpole container. He went right out that afternoon and captured some of the ones we had seen in the creek a few days ago. :)

I found some books to put on the shelves for them to ponder through and a constitution replica.

The kids learned more that day from flipping through all those books than they would have if we had normal lessons.

We went to another used book sale at the library. The kids will be busy for a while and it should give them lots of new hours to just look through our shelves in the school room. :) They have been surrounded by piles of books in the floor for days. I love how they never get tired of them.

I spent a grand total of 18 dollars on everything. :)
