My Sweet Baker Son

One night I had a craving for cake. I mentioned it and Elijah quickly said he could make me one. In about an hour I had this. :) I don't think having a baker for a son is a great idea when trying to tone up from a baby.














I have so many cakes to share that he has made. They are on Matthew's camera. Soon, I promise.

Elijah's "Three Little Pig" Birthday Cake

Elijah had another order for a birthday cake. The theme was the three little pigs.





His cake was iced and the new marshmallow fondant he tried this time was ready to be dyed.

Remy made a "bug" cake. He had alot of fun and said he understood why Eli loves to do cake some much. ;)

Elijah says the story to this cake is the two pigs are running out of the stick house to the brick house. The third industrious pig is working away in his garden. :)










He has a pony cake order for March I think it is. :) Be on the lookout for it.


He earned enought to almost pay for his new DSi with all of his cakes. :) He was so proud!

Fondant Cake Class Two ~ Flowers

Elijah had his second fondant class today. He is really in love with this course and he is quite good at it!


Before we left he prepared for his class.








We arrived at the store and he quickly caught on to the rose.











He then completed his carnation.

Two more classes to go! :)


Remy used some of the fondant and made a palm tree with a monkey and a tree.








He had to show them off to the teacher and he promptly received a sweet hug. :)

Eli's Ribbon Rose Cake

Yesterday Elijah completed the first course of his cake decorating journey. He was convinced that he was adding those ribbon roses to his cake that day. It didn't matter that he would learn them THAT night! Giggle. Matthew says he is like me...he must do the hardest most spectacular thing...no building up to it. ;) I think Eli learned well! Hee hee...

I didn't have anyone with me to help with Remy and I so wanted to be with Eli taking photos that last class. I had just told Remy he needed a haircut. He thought the rose scissors would work just fine. Crazy kid. He did however decide he needs art classes at Hobby Lobby himself now. I do not want to drive to Hobby Lobby twice in the week this pregnant. I told him to wait until after Bumble is here and I have nursing down and we would talk.





Mrs. Darlene is the cutest and she is so helpful to not only the other ladies in the class, but to Elijah. She always encourages him and tells the other ladies to look at what he has done. :) This is really her "thing" you can tell. She is really a blessing to Elijah and we are so thankful for her. Not many adults want to take the time to teach a child of 11 how to do something like this. We just love her. Elijah thinks she is magical in what she can do with icing. Giggle.

He did so well to have only just learned to do those roses that night! The biggest thing I have noticed with Eli is that it is hard for his little hands to put enough pressure on the bag with one-handed work. He is very coordinated with turning the nail though. I was very surprised.


Here he is all "graduated". ;)





Next stop is his fondant and gumpaste starting in July!

Eli's Third Cake Class

He learned to make a shaggy mum.

He has off this week, THANK GOODNESS! Look for all his practice runs until the last class of course one! I think he is looking into fondant.

Eli's Second Cake Class

Again, I am so impressed with what he is learning!!!!!


Tonight he made this!!!!!!





I had went to collect him at the end of his class and he was just beaming with pride! As we left the classroom he just blurted out, "This is just so much fun!" I am so happy with the level of instruction he is receiving and how the other ladies are fitting him in. When I walked in they all exclaimed, "Look at his cake!" I really wanted to cry. You know how it is when your child finds something they love and they just run with it. Or maybe it is just the prenatal hormones? Hee hee...


Now the only problem is we need people to give cakes to, any takers?

Eli's First Cake After Cake Class One

First of all, Darlene taught him so well. Thankyou, GOD, for people who don't mind teaching our children the things they want to learn when we just don't have the energy or gumption to do so!!!!! What a blessing Darlene is to our family.


Elijah went to his first Wilton cake class last tuesday. Matthew and I were shocked with the amount of information that was given and how much he had picked up! He shared his star-tipped cookies with us when he came home with such joy and gusto. :)


Last night I let him do some "homework" to practice what he had learned. He needed to bake a little cake for tomorrow's class so we made two. He went over the lessons of making icing, tinting the icing, spreading the icing, getting the icing as smooth as possible (which is hard), and he revisited stars on his cake. The neat thing he did was make a trasfer with gel and a cross pattern he lifted off the internet. It was a very simple cake, but he really showed us how much he had learned. He is almost to the point that I could walk away and leave him be for the entire process! I really can't wait for that. ;) My biggest job right now is keeping him from licking the icing. HA HA!


Once or twice I would say that the book says to, "do whatever", and he would say, "NOPE, that isn't what Mrs. Darlene says!" HA HA!

Eli is so into this class. At one point last night Matthew lifted an eyebrow and said, "He really likes doing this." Yes, honey, yes he does. *snicker* And he better like it well after all these classes. We have spent a pretty penny so far on supplies. The kids doesn't play sports nor does he want to, so this will just be his "thing" for a while. Thank GOD for insulin pumps! HA HA
