Tomorrow is the big day! The day where we all get yummy food and eat and eat a whole lot of it. I have phase one of my tofu turkey in the fridge awaiting to be stuffed and baked tomorrow. I am also making my men a pumpkin pie and a crustless cranberry crumble pie. Potatoes and fresh green beans, homemade rolls, cranberry sauce will also make it's way to our table. We hope that everyone who reads our school blog will have a very yummy day. :)
We have some photos to share from the last few days. :) OF COURSE!
So, you know how Remy is doing that owl literature unit with me. He loves it and we went to Gymboree and guess what they had for 6 bucks each on the clearance rack!? They had these two pair of CUTE-TO owl Jammies. They glow in the dark too! $12 I spent on them together!
They are just TOO sweet in those jammies, I tell you what!
We are back into our study of Egypt with Story of the World Volume 1. We finished up with the study of the Gods they believed in. Osiris and Set was one of the tales we learned and afterwards they colored a picture of it.
Remy's:
Eli's:
If you don't know the story I can run it down for you really quick. Osiris and his wife Isis ruled Egypt, Osiris takes a little trip around the world and while he is gone his evil brother Set wants to be king. When Osiris gets back he is invited to a big feast. Isis is afraid of Set and Osiris laughs her off. They go to the feas and Set presents a beautiful coffin to Osiris. It fits on Osiris and when he gets in Set closes him in and throws him in the Nile River. Now Set believes he is Kind of the Gods. Isis goes to find him and finds Osiris has drowned. She cries and cries, wraps his body in linen and he comes to life again. Everything goes back to the good days because he is alive.
The kids find it very strange that the Egyptians believed in all of those strange Gods. But they think it is neat as well.
We read a book called "The Seeker of Knowledge" by James Rumford. It is about Jean-Francois Champollion, the young boy who grew up to decipher the hieroglyphs! Very neat read, and the boys learned how someones passion can lead them to big things even if they are little. :)
We did some more science type stuff with insects and we also made a butterfly book. They enjoyed that very much. They took so much time on them and were so happy to show daddy when he came home. :)
Okay, I have to show you all another freezer experiment. Walmart was selling cokes in christmas ball shapes. Remy drank the coke, filled it with water, froze it, and then filled a plastic cup with water and put the coke upside down in that and froze it again. This is what you get.
Hope that tickles your funny bone! Hee hee!

Cute pj's! Isn't it great when you find stuff like that!
I love their pajamas!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA at the new freezer experiment...he is very serious about this!!
We haven't gotten one of the new, cool Cokes yet. Jeff said he is going to bring some home. My kids haven't even seen them yet as far as I know!
Do they cost as much? They look so small. I guess you are also paying for the very cool container!! One of those may be worth some money one day if they don't continue to make them.
Anyway.........haha about the experiment.
As always, love the pics!
Yes, he is very serious about it. He has started freezing things in layers. Hee hee! He is nuts. The cokes are $1. And yes they may be worth something if I can keep my kids out of them!
And yes, the pj's are awesome!
