I was blessed with a dark and rainy day again. It just makes for the sweetest of school days. We take things slowly and have a mellow kind of day.
This morning before I even awoke Eli went and of his own discipline completed most of his work by himself. I only had to do math, reading, and his spelling test! He told Matthew that he was doing it so that I would have more time to do something I wanted to do! Can you believe that?
Matthew has had employees that can't self motivate or start and complete a task on their own. He says this skill is severly lacking in the people he has coming out of the school system and into his store for work. My heart was all a pitter patter with love and delight for my oldest.
I talked to him as he did his mathsheet.
And here he is ALL DONE! Ahhhh sweet accomplishments! I think he needs a trim so I can see his sweet eyes. :)
Elijah has been studying Robins on his own. And today after the rainpour he spotted 2 Robins out on the back lawn looking for food. He wondered aloud if they had a hard time keeping the eggs dry. He informs me that a Robin egg cannot get wet, not even a speck, or they don't hatch! I didn't know this!
Which leads me to say that another plus about homeschooling is that my children are learning to find what they want to learn, learn it, and then use it in everyday situations. You may think learning about a Robin is not a big deal. But how many 9 year olds do you see worrying about how the Robin's and their eggs faired in the huge rain storm we had. And then teach their parents a bit of Robin trivia? Not many, I know that to be sure!
Remy did 2 days of lessons and just amazes me! I have looked ahead and I don't see him learning anything new for a few days. He knows all of his letter sounds, and he can read simple things like (Mom sat on a log. or Ben will feed the dog.). He has simple addition down PAT! And can tell time by the hour. His penmanship is very pretty. He can learn anything pertaining to history and science. And through our lapbook attempt he is obsessed with Martin Luther King. Hee hee...
If he keeps this progress up the way he is, he will be starting 1st grade when he *would* be starting kinder. His motivation at this age astounds me.
I did help him make his Pilgrim hat today. He begged me to help him make the girl one so he could put it on Eli. Hee hee...
Serious Pilgrim...
Smiling Pilgrim...
Remy did play with Dakota today, but they both got in plenty of time with Beatrix. She is so fat and cuddly.
He started this thing today where he put my hair thingy in his hair and struted around chanting, "I'm the Queen of the house". Silly REMY GAGE!

Eli doing his work all on his own! How awesome is that?! I love Remy's pilgrim hat. I remember doing that one with Lindsay, but she did the little pilgrim girl's hat. It would have been cute to get a picture of them side by side wearing those hats.
I love rainy days too. And I think it's great that Eli is studying Robin's! ;-)
I thought you would! Hee hee...
I want the bunny..haha!!!
Entirely too cute!
That is so sweet that Eli did his work on his own so you could have time for yourself <3 And I love the pilgrim hat, very cute!
