Another HAPPY Monday!

Man, do I remember Mondays...

I remember coming home from school on Fridays. Knowing the torture was over for a few days. How free I felt! I could read what I wanted, and never get in trouble. I was always reprimanded for reading a book and not listening to the teacher or watching the overhead projector.

Friday I would stay up SUPER late.

Saturday I would sleep until I awoke.

Sunday's were good...but by Sunday night I was upset that it was bed and school the next morning. *sigh*

I love to NOT see this in our school. We homeschool year round, the day of the week doesn't matter. Instead we are more driven by our daddy's schedule and what needs to be done out of the house.

So, we had a HAPPY Monday together.

Elijah wrote some more on his story of the birth of Jesus he has been working on. And he knows all of the words he has on his spelling list. I am just floored that he can speel obedient! It isn't from memorization, but because he knows and understands completely phonetic sounds and rules. Anyway, it is time to move on to another list. :) He loves a new list. And he races to see how quickly he can say them all without a mistake. Hee hee... I too loved my spelling words when my mother studied them with me when I was in first grade or so.

Math he did has we sat together. He loves it when I sit with him and he can talk out what steps he is taking. I have to say that most of the time I do not understand the rabbit trails he goes down to get his answers. But matthew says that it is the same way he does it and that he totally gets it. OKAY! As long as he gets the right answer. :)

He was very eager to start his assigned reading pages in his books today. :)

He read about Cats and Kittens. Why they have the behaviors they do and how through play they learn to be big adult cats. :) It also went into how to care for your own kitten/cat. He enjoyed it so much that he asked me to snap a picture!

He loved this page because of the picture of the kitten sniffing the flower. :)

He drew this picture of our cockatiel Dakota today.

Now on to our smallest boy. :) Remy did one day of lessons very quickly. And then a few hours later he begged for another day. I put him off. He begged. I said go play. He begged. I made him go off and play, he goes outside, he plays his gameboy, he looks at books, he plays with our birdie, he looks at bunny, he holds Reese, he has a snack, and he is back BEGGING me to do just one more day, PLEAAAASSSE!

So, I do.

Today he read 6 sentences! Things like, Mom sat on a log. He just beamed when he did this and I told him that he was reading like what was in real books!

He did a little phonics page where he was to read the little words and then color it. The reading was great. But the picture. It stops me, it takes my breath away. I want to cry. NOT happy tears, mostly sad tears! Let me show what his coloring looks like usually.

Isn't it beautiful? I have just loved his rainbow pictures where everything has 5 or more colors on it. I have NEVER told him to do it the "right" way. But here it is. The sad sad sad picture. The normal picture of a big boy. *sigh*
He calls me to the table by saying DONE in a loud voice. And this is what I see...

I looked at it, and I looked at him. I tell him how good it is, like always. And I say to myself more than him...does this mean this is the end to my rainbows? And he says....oh gosh...he says...I'm fraid so! OH MY GOSH! I can't handle a world without rainbows! I want to CRY and not stop! Eli always colored things "right", just how he is. I just adored my rainbow boy. Guess he is growing by leaps and bounds.

I just hugged him and went to make dinner.

After dinner I needed some sweet treat. We made Jello Sugar Cookies. They aren't bad, but they aren't GREAT either. Eeeekkkk...

I leave you with my new Biggest boy holding his Reese Puppy.

I use to feel the same way about school. I could not wait to get home on Fridays! Not that I didn't like public school, I did, I just wish that my mom would have homeschooled me and my 3 siblings. I think that it would have been a great experience for us. Sometimes I listen to my family and my in-laws say "How I wish that I could homeschool on days like this," and it makes me feel so blessed that I am the one who is able to spend every precious moment with my children.

Can I tell you that I just LOVE reading about your boys' daily school times! Remy is such a pip! I'm sorry about the rainbows though, that would make me sad too! :( Elijah is soooo smart to be able to spell phonetically! I always had the best spelling b/c of phonics. That will stick with him for the rest of his life! Good job mama!
