Feeding the birds with Daddy

Daddy was off of work today. We stayed home and just let the errands and stuff go for the day. He had wedding portraits to edit and we had some things planned anyway. ;)

Life was just whatever we wanted it to be today. We did do some more of our bird stuff we had planned. The kids made some birds to hang in the dining room. You could hear lots of talk about birds from them both. I got some computer time in while they did this.

We then moved on to making our pine cone bird feeders. I didn't realize I had picked a bad spot to do this...the sun was beating down hard. But we got through it. :)

First you string the pinecone up with thread.

Eli is such a perfectionist. Threading took him FOREVER! Hee hee...

Next you spread on the peanut butter.

And then you roll on the bird seed.

And you have your pinecone ready to hang and treat the birds. :)

This is MESSY work so the next step is to have two willing puppy dogs to clean you up!

And a daddy to help you hang the finished product.

I had picked up two potato guns at Target in the dollar section last time I was there. Today the boys put them to work. Eli enjoyed them more than Remy did. :) Look at how private eye he can be! HEE HEE!

Today both of the boys DID IT! If I wasn't too tired to load up the videos I would. But they both are swimming the length of the pool! And Remy is JUMPING in without floaties and going and touching the bottom of the pool! Today was just a HUGE day in swimming and daddy gave them both an AAAA+++++!

Now as soon as Elijah will go under water they get to choose from a handful of prizes. We had set swimming goals for them this summer and summer hasn't even started! We are very proud parents. :)

We swam from like 3pm-8pm! I am so darn tired. Goodnight to all my sweet friends. :)

You need to frame the one of the boys in the pool!! Really, that is the greatest picture that I have ever seen of them together. It is amazing!!!
Yippee on the swimming!

Well...the reason it is so great...is because MATTHEW took that one. ;)

That looks like so much fun!!! :) I love the birds...where did you find that pattern? Congrats to the boys on swimming!! In Louisiana, I'd say learning to swim (in the nice cool water) is right up there with learning to walk!!!

The pattern is out of a little science book thing I have had for years.

And the wather is like 88 degrees and warm. Hee hee...I joke about putting ice cubes in it!

I love their little birdies! So cute! We made those pinecone bird feeders during the winter, but we didn't have little doggies to lick the mess off. LOL! I love it!

Those boys are doing an awesome job with their swimming lessons! And I have to agree with everyone else, that photo of the two of them in the pool is adorable.

Hey the little doggies were ESSENTIAL for our project! Hee hee!

Thanks Rhonday, it takes having cute kids to know cute kids! ;)

I've been meaning to make those pinecone feeders for like 3 years now! When we moved in here I gathered a bunch from our tree....and in my closet they still sit!! now that I know how cool they are we totally have to make them!

OH YOU SO HAVE TO MAKE THEM!

They lasted one night...the next day a certain bushy tailed critter made off with them. *sigh*
