Just another spring day...

Today we just lounged around until after lunch. And then Remy started his lessons. He had his math, science, phonics, and writing. Just normal stuff. And Elijah almost finished his book. He is on chapter 10. I wonder if he can finish the series before the summer is out? I was showing Remy a calendar today and realized that the 21st is summer. The spring has just zoomed by. Maybe because we were so ready for it to happen and we have just drank it up everyday with such delight? Time does fly when your having fun.

We decided to get outside after some school. And of course they spent the time swimming. ;)

Monkey was brought along to sit in a chair gathering sunshine into himself while Remy swam.

Remy has some new goggles and he just dives in holding his breath and swims like a fish! I wish Eli could get over it soon and just let his head under the water. But they are each making long strides being left to what they would prefer to do. And they have a whole summer to loosen up. :)

I had a friend ask me if her daughter should take swimming lessons when they were over swimming recently. I have thought about that for a few days and my answer would now have to be NO! Just give her time to play in the water. I NEVER had a swimming lesson and I AM a fish!

I tell ya today I just floated in the middle of the pool on my back. The sun was warm, the breeze was blowing, and I watched the birds fly over in my own little silent world. I listened to the sounds of water moving as the kids swam. I saw butterflies, 4 different kinds of birds, pollen falling down on the air towards me (never knew you could see it in the air), and even a plane passed me by. How to explain the calm when all you can hear is water as you watch the world above you go by? I think this will be a favorite thing of mine his summer. :)

After a long swim the kids and I played in the yard. I love to follow them now. To just watch and do what they do. And they have even started taking me into their kid world. I have missed this place! :)

We found a cicada skin.

Which then reminded them of the cicada they had found "unhatched" a few days ago. Remy had put it in a shoe, don't ask he is nuts. And the little guy having found himself unable to break out of his old skin the normal way just drilled himself out from the BACKEND! When I went to take a photo Remy informed me he didn't know where he had set it. I wanted to show it to you all so badly!

There is a new flower in the backyard.

To me it reminded me of my childhood in Florida. The big Catholic church, Saint Ann's, would have a Cowboy Roundup every summer. And you could buy these Mexican tissue flowers. I always got one and I would hold it and just look at it for days on end until it was just gone one day. I don't ever remember them tearing or being thrown away. They just drifted out of my life every year at some point...like a dream. :) That flower looked just like one of those tissue flowers.

Our Garden is coming along!

The squash and cucumbers seem to be doing the best. But they are fast growers anyway.

We have a little friend who follows us all day outside. She never tires. It doesn't matter how hot or thirsty she is...she stays right with us...her little nose right into everything we do!

I am so glad we did get Reese. Juliet is just so old now and not much fun. The kids treat her like she is a person. How much better the world would be if they learned how to treat animals from children.

Puppy dogs just make life sweeter!

Daddy is off tomorrow! Wonder what fun we can have????

I haven't seen one of those c shells in YEARS!!! I wondered what had happened to them. We use to call them locusts shells and we'd collect them at my grandmother's house. Thanks for the memory.

What a glorious day! You are so blessed Chelita. How I love coming to spend my days with you. Even if it is only through your blogs. *smile*

I agree with the no swimming lessons as long as you have somewhere to expose your children to water. Jeff and I are so proud of how well all three of ours are swimming. Carter has been diving to the bottom for things since he was two years old! I'm so happy that we have given them all the opportunities to become swimmers....I can't imagine going through life afraid of the water.
As you know, I also love "becoming" one of my children sometimes. I remember one night when Madison and her friend asked me to be their patient so they could play Dr. with Madison's new kit she got for Christmas. I kid you not, we played for over 2 hours. Just the other day, this friend brought that up to me...talking about how fun it was. I have always told Madison that I would love to go back and be her age...and her be there...for a day. That night, it was as if I had. It was so amazing!

Laura, around August they are COVERING the trees, house, etc. You will have to come and see them.

Rhonda, I enjoy our visits too. :)

Sherri, I had a little above ground pool and the beach growing up. Learning to swim in waves was so much fun. They would lift me up and it make it easier. You could ride that wave in doggie paddling the whole way. :)The sound side, was calm and clear but we then searched for hermit crabs. And towards Panama I swam with the rays! Okay, now I want to go to the beach!

AWWWWW, here's to letting our kid selfs come out to play. :)

Okay, that's it. We are coming to live with you. Falafel is my FAVORITE, and if you are also making empanadas I am afraid you'll need to fix me up my own room. It is worth the LA humidity to eat this well!

:o) Have a great day~
