Okay, I have to start this one out with some links. I was asked to share the sources of our Eagle lapbooks and our Taffy recipe.
Here ya go:

Let us know if you use any of it! We love to see photos of kids doing the stuff we have done! :)
When Remy came in from the pool lastnight he found another cicada.
In the morning we had a brand new creature.
He taught the cicada his language so he could tell him to come down out of our tree. He really considers this little guy his friend and that he can tame him. I love my wee boy so much! He played with him all day because this one didn't leave. And then after lunch he runs in to tell me with a huge smile and much excitement that cicada had flown away while perched on his hand! It was a good moment for Remy. He is proud that he helped the little guy have a safe place to molt. :)
Remy is now working on telling the time by counting by fives now. He can now count by 1's, 10's and 5's. :)
Today we talked about plants and we did two experiments.
We have done the celery now twice but Remy and Eli loved it anyway and asked to do it.
We soaked 2 lima beans over night so we could see the three main parts.

Remy and I made a "Garden Penne Pasta" tonight. Care to see the cooking journey?
Any good pasta starts with pretty tomatoes.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and prepare an ice bath.
X the bottom of the tomatoes.
Then boil the heck out of them for about 30 seconds.
When they start to peel dip them out and put them into the ice bath for about 5 minutes.
Now some olive oil and red pepper!
Chop up a red onion.
Add the onion and garlic to the pot.
Chop up the carrots and squash...
While this is cooking peel the tomato skins off and puree' them in a blender or chopper.
Next add your veggies to the pot. Cook until they are tender.
Add the puree' and the tomato paste.
And now the cook part...fill that paste can up with any wine on hand and pour it in with your balsamic vinegar. (I buy baby wines for cooking.)
Cook this for about 5 minutes. And then add some basil, salt, and Italian seasonings.
Now toss it with your penne pasta and top with feta or other cheese! EAT IT UP with good bread. YUM-O!
Elijah helped me make a pound cake and we will serve it with berries and whipped cream. :)
I am looking foward to tomorrow with my little men! :)

Even though I enjoy observing every kind of bug there is, I will not hold them like Remy is doing. For some reason I am just afraid of them. *Shivers* Something about the buzzing noises they make. I really enjoyed your story about him and the cicada. Especially the part where he taught the cicada "his" language. I loved it. *smile*
Oh I remember Lindsay making that clock! We called him "Telly Time Clock" and will be using him again for 1st grade. I also remember learning about the parts of a seed. If you are using Abeka for Science, wait until you get to put a variety of seeds on a piece of cardboard and cover it with plastic wrap and watch them grow! Melanie did that one and she loved it!
That pasta looks so yummy! Pasta is one of my favorite dishes. It doesn't matter what kind, I love them all. Hmmm I wonder if that is why my hips are spreading. LOL!
Have a wonderful red, white, and blue day tomorrow with your beautiful little family!
Gosh, the pasta and cake look so good!!! Next time, please invite me!!!
Rhonda, I don't hold the little buzzy critters! Hee hee...
Laura, I agree that you should come over and soon!
The story of Remy & his new friend was precious. I'm glad you got a pic of them together. I'm sure he will always remember that.
Yummy dinner!
What are your plans for the 4th?
OH MY GOODNESS!! I just don't know what to say about the cicada...I saw that and about fell out of my chair!! I seriously have to get over this or else my boys will end up phobic too! *shudders*
Retro...you crack me up!!! I just allow Remy to pick things up. I never said I did! Hee hee!
Elijah isn't all into holding every critter either. But he is getting better as am I.
