The Birdie Bath

It has been so hot and dry here and our grass and trees are in dire need of refreshment. I water them when it has been too long and the sun is in no way ready to allow for rain. One day I had left the sprinkler on and when I went to move it I found my backyard covered in birds. Robins, blue jays, black birds, and a yellow and black bird I have never seen before. I even spied a blue bird for a split second. The Robins and blue jays seem to be the ones that stick around the longest once I am spotted.

I was so pleased to give them refreshment. The blue jays were so wet they were like little wet rats.

This heat is tough on the little creatures. Here in CT it is hot, but it has not been sustained long enough to scorch the ground. Earlier this week we had a few storm pass through and dump some much needed rain but after reading your post, I am going to give the birds a bit extra today when I water my garden!
