Hello....So we all had a longer holiday. We did have school on Memorial Day, but it was very spontaneous and laid back. :)
Remy found his biggest snail yet!
If you look close you can see the snail slime in the second photo. EWWWWWWWWW!
It didn't bother the mad scientist *cough* little boy at all. :)
We have been doing some stuff on Fish and the boys made a Fish Poster with Fishy Facts on them. Eli's was just so sweet...showing me yet again how very big he is. *sigh* The facts were so him and showed how much of a thinker he is.
The boys had their first day of a ballet/pilates/yoga workout. They did the WHOLE thing and had so much fun! I laughed so much. They are so hard on each other and push each other to the MAX!
They say they can't wait to get more flexible and they can't believe that their mama was once THAT flexible. Maybe I should train too so I can show them?
We found eggs surrounded by jelly in the pool a while back. We decided they were indeed frog eggs and put them in a bucket...today we had TADPOLES!!!! The four that made it (the other eggs dried and didn't make it) are little bitty things and we can't wait to see them grow!
When Eli went to check on the eggs I heard all kinds of screaming and excitement! And it lastest for some time.
Elijah has finished his second book in the "Series of Unfortunant Events" and his 3rd book is waiting up at the library.
He read a small book on Twisters today. With his 8th grade reading level last time I tested him, leaves me with really nothing to do but to allow him to read and learn all on his own. Isn't that just brilliant????
We read a story book on Joseph and his Brothers for History today. And we have been reading through book two of the "Little House" series. I even came across a reading comprehension booklet for the one we are on. But that will be in another post soon.
Remy is really just trucking along in his kinder work. It is funny but since he as been reading with 1 vowel words and a few sight words for a while he has realized that some of the words do not go by the same rules he has learned. While in the bathroom at Target he asks he daddy to teach him how to read the two vowel words he saw. So in the Target Bathroom my husband took from me the sweetness of teaching the 2 vowel rule! :( LOL!
What is FUNNY is that his books started teaching that TODAY! He was ahead of his books just a thinking and trying to work it out in his head all on his own. And Daddy was the one there when he decided to ask for help. Mr. John Holt (He wrote: How Children Learn) would be very pleased with this outcome. *laugh*
BATHROOM PHONICS WORKED FOR ME! *laugh*
Anywho!
Remy made our dinner tonight, a soup. His little voice going NONSTOP while he stirred and added to the brew. *laugh* I wish I had recorded the little guy talking away, the subjects flying in and out of each other. Cuteness is what it is. :)

Wow you have been busy! My Lindsay would love Remy's snail. She loves all kinds of things like that. The other day she walked up to me with the biggest earthworm that I have ever seen. I couldn't find a chair fast enough to jump on! LOL!
I love the fish posters. They are awesome! Great job guys.
We like pilates here. There are so many new videos out and I think that it is great for your boys to be doing them.
Congrats on the tadpoles! How cool is that. I can't wait until they turn into little frogs. Your boys are gonna be so tickled. :0)
Oh Wow, Eli reading on an 8th grade reading level is amazing! Good for him. I am sure that you are a very proud momma. I loved it when Lindsay started learning the 2-vowel rule. It is fun to see her read such a variety of words now. I swear I was holding my belly laughing at your "Bathroom Phonics." Chelita, that was so funny! I loved it!
Where do you go to test your child's reading level?
Where do you go to test your child's reading level?
My boys love the "Little House" books too, I am nearly through reading them the entire series probably for at least the third time!
This is why home schooling is so great; they can learn phonics in the bathroom!
The bathroom phonics is still ticklin' my funny bone. lol
I love the ocean posters. We are starting an ocean unit for all 5 children and each will do an age-appropriate lapbook (with the exception of the 2 yr. old)We ahve many crafts planned as well but i love the ocean facts poster too! Did you have them trace pictures? The drawings are so well done and accurate.
Thanks for sharing!
Have a fun weekend!

It was just a printed sheet of the animals that they colored and then cut out. They did draw the scene that they put the fish on. Eli did pretty good with it.
