Children in the Woods

Eli had his second day of school today. It took about 2 hours again, but with lunch in between, so more like 1 1/2 hours. And Remy started and finished his stuff somewhere inbetween Eli's.

It was really another one of those perfect days. :)

In science today we are still talking about the nervous system and the sensory organs. To show some of them at work I set up a table of secret items.

Eli then had 15 seconds to look at the table of 10 items. After 15 seconds I covered them up and he went to write down how many he could remember. He remembered 5 and Remy 6. Eli was so not okay with not remembering them all. But this is the type of thing that is right up his alley. :)

He said that he remembered the items in his mind but could not remember the names. I so know what he means.

The boys also had a friend over for a playtime in the front yard, a swim, and then some time in the "creek".

Eli found tadpoles and found a plastic bin and net ASAP! He couldn't go fast enough! Like they would not be there when he went back. *laugh*

Later on we discovered little tiny fish, tadpoles, and water snails! This was of course a HUGE find for the boys. :) They love those critters. The other little boy wasn't as excited. My children are the children of the "woods". I love it that way. ;) They are so simple and sweet in ways I never knew children could be these days. I praise God for his leadership to this point. Matthew and I are certainly reaping the rewards of raising our children in the way set forth for us. :) Thank you LORD!

Precious! We have a creek that runs through the back yard and my kids are always finding new and exciting creatures. We also have 60 acres of woods that we own behind us! It would be so fun for our boys to get together and play! Oh if only you lived closer!

Another wonderful day for you and your boys! How I love watching kids and nature. There is just something about a child exploring the great outdoors that lets you know that you must be doing something right. :0)

I guess some kids are just born to love the outdoors and nature. I say this because of my three, only Madison and Carter do. Patrick has grown up in the same environment with the same experiences and a mother who promotes it, but he could still take it or leave it. On the other hand, Madison and Carter will spend hours in the ditch with a net or on a pier with a fishing pole. I would like to say that I made them that way, but Patrick is proof that I can't take much of the credit :(.

Yes, but Patrick is still one of those sweet kids with a light in them. That is because of you two. ;)
