Wise Words, From Abraham Lincoln

I have made it no secret of how dissapointed I am in the outcome of our presidential election.

But, I didn't feel McCain was the one either. He was just the one I liked and agreed with the best. And I loved that VP pick he made. :)

Anyway, today in our homeschool, Elijah and I looked at Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address. I was floored. And thankful that not only did the Lord give my son a great lesson in a past great man, but that Lincoln's bold words could touch my heart and make me not so weary of the future.

Read what had me so impressed:

"With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation's wounds."

This is the stuff history is made of! This is the type of words our children so need to hear! I am humbled today. I am so blessed to have the chance to pass on to my children real learning, learning that changes the heart. This has happened so much in the past few weeks. I am just so thankful for homeschooling. It is a blessing in so many ways. I really love it.

Oh AMEN! There has been a lot of the Lord showing Himself in those ways around here too. We are blessed to be Americans, blessed to be homeschoolers, and blessed to be children of the Most High God! Hallelujah!

Yes, I agree. I have been disappointed too. But I know that life goes on and the most important thing to do right now is to teach those truths to our kids. Teach them about why people came here in the first place. Teach them about the Constitution and about great men like Abraham Lincoln who believed in God and didn't say quotes like "clinging to their guns and religion".

And it's nice to know that Obama has been studying the words of Lincoln lately, too.
