Pumpkin Carving 2012

Wanna know what I love? I LOVE that for a few years in a child's life everything is all new each year. Noey was so into those pumpkins. I was just eating up the eye-candy as I took these shots of Matthew and him working on his pumpkin.

The faces they made just tickled my heart!

That big hand and that little hand cutting away together.

The big reveal as to what is inside those big beautiful orange things we picked and then sat in the kitchen for a few weeks. Last year it freaked him out. He was not happy when we cut into that pumpkin. He had no memory of his earlier angst.

Showing him that a dino (RAWR) was to go on it was icing on the cake!

"Noey, smile for mama." I like this reaction even better. :)

"Pa, RAWR!"

The moment you put the candle in to illuminate that handy work and the baby decides he needs to blow it out! Sweet stuff, right there!

Bigger boys so capable and working all on their very own.

A Huckle break for Noey.

Enjoying my oldest and knowing I can count on my hand how many more pumpkin carvings we will have before he is of age.

"Mommy, I am finished." My Remy is so grown and so amazing.

Seeing that table full of my men, MY MEN!

Smiling, because Eli is his father's son. A perfectionist. Also smiling, because he is his mother's son. He has big visions and always picks the most intricate thing he can find. He was the longest in his labor and never quite happy with it. Love him!

My favorite moment...running outside in the cold to enjoy those pumpkins. :)

Moments with my Boys

Lots of time was spent this fall loving on a new family member.

Photobucket

Remy and Dakota were back to loving on each other. They are such "love birds".

We baked Rosemary french bread for our supper.

Remy and Eli passed down an old abandoned toy to Noey. He loves it. :)

Eli sneaks off with his tablet whenever he has the chance. I do believe this is when I caught him on Spelling City studying his words for the week on his own. :)

Photobucket

We made thumbprint cookies.

More bread...rolls this time.

Photobucket

More puppy time. See her there in his lap as he works? I so adore puppy school.

Photobucket

Lots of sweetness...

Fall Art

I have a few more things to share from our fall. I am sure you will not mind. :)

Eli's work:

Photobucket

He played with color.

Photobucket

Made leaf rubbings.

He really enjoyed layering watercolors and learning to lighten or darken places with this little turkey.

Photobucket

He made a handful of very pretty leaves. Smudging is one of his favorite techniques.

Photobucket

He made another cornucopia this year, too. They get better each time he does them.

Remy's work:

They worked together on these little owl kits.

Remy's lanterns. He loved it so much that he went and made another one without the art lesson print-out.

Photobucket

We had so much fun with our artistic pursuits in our favorite season. :) We even had a little Indian visitor. :)

I remember making those vests in my own elementary class one fall. :)

Baby Pumpkin Pies

This activity reminded me of when Eli, my soon to be twelve year old was a baby. I used to call him my punkin pie. :)

Buy refrigerated pie dough and cut out circles with a biscuit cutter.

Next spray with an oil spray on the back of the muffin tins and shape the little circles of dough over the bottoms.

Photobucket

They will bake up nice and fluffy with a little lip on the edges to hold the pumpkin filling.

Next put your pumpkin pie filling mix in a saucepan and heat up. You can add the eggs and milk if you would like, we did. We also mixed two tablespoons of corn starch in a little cup of water and added that in to thicken the mix.

Once you are done allow the children to fill those little baby pie shells. Then enjoy!

There you go...simple pie even little bitty ones can make. :)
