Looking for Flowers...and Creatures

Elijah needed to make a fall flower museum for science so we took a walk and found some.

He found so many for his project.

Photobucket

Remy wasn't looking for flowers but he was on the lookout for little creatures.

He chased this guy for a while. Seems he was too quick for the Remmit.

Finally Eli hit the jackpot! This is the flower he was really wanting to find. He wanted to see how many insects he could find on it. In his book it showed a city. He was not disappointed. He took this home and looked at small aphids and beetles under the microscope. There were even little spiders. I am so glad we remembered to do this. The project came up when Golden Rod was not in bloom. I made a note of it to get to later.

Noey loves to go for a stroll with us.

Remy caught something!

It was so sweet to watch Eli gather his flowers. He so enjoyed this outing with a purpose.

He had made a ring out of a dollar. He stopped me and told me how perfect the fold was because you could see these words:

Noey didn't make it the whole time. He slept all the way back to the house and then finished his nap in the stroller in the dark kitchen.

Remy informed me that the squirrels at our house would need this for their winter nests. We took the moss home, of course.

Photobucket

Eli decided to help Remy with his creature hunt for a while.

More flowers!

My sweetheart son. I pray he always takes the time to enjoy the simple things.

Remy was all about the bugs that day. I could hardly make it back home! :)

Such a fun walk with my three sons.

The Bliss it is to be Remy

Remy is so enjoying the spring. The world is coming alive and I can't keep him inside. If I assign him something to do in school time he quickly finishes and runs outside before I notice he is done. I so enjoy watching him. I will sneak to the door and watch him without his knowing. He thrills my heart. :)

One afternoon I asked him to take me on a tour of his collection of visiting "friends".

First up was a water beetle he found in the pool. He put it in an old Sea Monkey tank that he bought at a yard sale once for 10 cents.

Photobucket

Next up was something that warranted his silly terrified look. He bought this habitat at the Dollar Tree and inside it is some sort of spider. He says it is a girl and that she made an egg sac.

He found these insect eggs on a leaf outside and he has them inside of a habitat...waiting to see what they hatch out to be. It looks like a flower on each end!

Photobucket

He found this habitat in the dollar section at Target. He has inside of it his pride and joy at the moment. He tells me this is a Bess Beetle that he found with his friend Elijah when we were visiting them a while back. He also tells me that Elijah is his BEST friend and that they are so much alike. He says that he wishes Elijah was one of his brothers. :)

I look forward to learning from my sweet 2nd grader this spring and summer as he explores his patch of earth called home.

I must make a plea to all mothers of a son or daughter that desires to be close to nature in this way. I know how hard it can be to allow it, to be comfortable with it. I was the most girly-girl EVER and bugs EEEEKED me out! Slowly I have been overcoming it. Find field guides, find out what is okay to handle, how to handle them, and how to keep them for at time to observe. Buy or keep anything that can be a habitat. Let them do this. This type of child will make themselves known, I promise, be gentle with them and don't allow your own predisposition to quelch who they are instinctively. We are all wonderfully and fearfully made with our own unique purpose. Don't be caught stifling the ones who have been intrusted into your care. Deeply love them and find a way to love even the parts you can't understand. If you can't, find someone who CAN help them in this area. I am so humbled by my little nature boy. I see things in a way I never would have without him. I am better for him.

Sculpted Creatures

With the cake decorating and fondant has come a revived love of playdoh in my boys. I love how the things they each make are so "them" in every way.

Eli made this creature and it is so anime down to the sparkles in its eyes. I just love my big boy and his vision in all things.

This one is so Remy. A creature eating a bug. My little nature boy. He thrills my heart!

First Field Trip with Noah Bleu!

We went to our postpartum checkup and decided to break-up the long drive. We went to the alligator park we had seen on all those drives to prenatals when I was growing our sweet Bumbles.

Photobucket

This little guy had a birth defect. :( Seems he gets around just fine!

Photobucket

Look, Noah is already lining his animals up two by two! Hee hee...

Photobucket

Notice they are baby animals!

Photobucket

This is where Noah and I go back to the car to nurse and change a diaper. Speaking of daipers I cloth diapered all day long while OUT OF TOWN yesterday! I am so happy with myself! :) It was so easy!

Photobucket

The animals were so sweet!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Can you tell Remy was in animal/critter HEAVEN?

Photobucket

This was Eli's favorite!

It helped the boys and Noah to have a riding break and it was a reward to the boys for all that driving they endured on prenatal days. :) I will post postpartum appointment photos soon! And yes, I am going to write that birth story. He may be two months old...but I will get to it.

See you later, Alligator!

Remy and a Green Friend.

Oh the joys of late spring for Remy. The world is truly his oyster during this time of the year. Everyday he finds something wonderful to show me. :) I will so miss my little creature finder when he is grown and away from me everyday. *sigh*

I just love his face when he is holding his finds.

A Prayer From Remy...

My little Remy boy tried for weeks to catch a wild mouse with a humane trap he had. He sat it out with crackers and peanut butter, he prayed, and no little mouse was to be seen on any of the mornings. But Remy kept praying...

Matthew went out to clean the pool one morning and he came in with THIS!

Photobucket

A little wild mouse that was swimming like CRAZY and trying to live!

Remy watched him for a while and then I convinced him that maybe it was a mama mouse or a daddy mouse and it needed to go home to get dry and tend to its babies. :( Remy cried, but we promised him something in returen, something I will show you all later. He had prayed and hoped for that little mouse and now we were making him let it go. He had grand visions of letting his crawfish go from the tank and keeping little wild mouse in the tank as a pet. *sigh*

But he did the right thing...

...and he said goodbye to little wild mouse. But he held us to our promise! I will show you what it was in another post.

I Went to the Doctor...

I saw the surgeon today and I was a wreck. I begged Matthew to take me back home, my chest tightened up, my breathing was HARD, My palms were sweety, and I cried. I did. Matthew pulled me from the car, and I mean this. He laughed the whole time because he said that I am the strongest woman he knows, but also the wimpiest! Hee hee! I don't care, I was NERVOUS!

We got into the office and I almost pass out. Things were going in and out for me. The girl at the counter was like, are you in pain? Matthew told her nope, she is just really nervous. I am sure that chick thought I was nuts!

I get to the back and the nurse for the doctor takes my history, weight, and blood pressure. My blood pressure was high from that stress, and I could feel it. I hate it when someone tells me that if I enjoy having babies and do it without drugs that this is nothing. No, it isn't the same thing. And I can't stand it when women relate the birth of their child to scary surgery! COME ON! That pain is delicious! It ebbs and flows, you know in your heart that it is meaninful, purposeful. And you get a BABY in the end. A baby! Sweet and chunky and yummy! :)

I guess my labor has started early, first with weight loss, I still have a bit more to go on that, and now the surgery for my belly button hernia. Darnit! I just want a baby! This is too hard! :(

The doctor doesn't seem to think it will be more than him going in tucking and pulling together, 2 or more stitches, and getting me awake and ready to go home. He said 20 minutes tops for him, if all goes well. I am not happy about going under, I do not react well to the medicines. All I have to say is that I want a girl after all this crap.

My doctor had 5 girls before they got their boy! NO WAY! Matthew told him we would adopt a girl before we had that many boys! *snicker*

On the way out the ladies gave me my "Koff-a-lot" bear for after the surgery to help with the pain when I cough. Urgh!

Photobucket

I will let you all know how I feel Friday night! Only two days away! Eeeek!

We came home and the boys planted their herbs from Easter while I planted mine and did some yard work.

Photobucket

Remy and Elijah found a ladybug.

Photobucket

Photobucket

We checked on the little garden and look how much more the corn grew!

Photobucket

Our beans are sprouting!

Photobucket

Elijah was more excited about the watermelons!

Photobucket

I love these purple flowers every year. :)

Remy found a frog just like the ones he played with over a Sherri's when we cleaned the pool. He was so happy! I pulled up the name of it and on the web page it played the song they sing. The frog jumped from Remy's hand and onto the computer, I think he liked the singing! :)

Matthew has a job interview tomorrow at Target. I will let you all know! It isn't what he wants and we still have the "super neat thing" in the cards, but we have to secure some work just in case. ;)
