A Fall Day With the Sweetest of Friends

I spent the day with Nicole and our families. It was one of those fall days where I am allowed to love on PUPPIES and BABIES! I want a baby so bad!

Nicole and I are trying to start up a "lapbook" business. Pray for us! Even if it bombs it is so much fun. We want to make them on themes we just can't seem to find anywhere else. If you have an idea let us know. Our first one is about Gypsies. Now our lapbooks will be for our age children for now and as they grow I guess the books will expand to include them. :)

We got alot done yesterday. We were so proud of ourselves. Now I have to sit down and do my work on my half. It isn't as fun without her. :(

By the way, if you live in the area and you want a goat or a puppy, let us know! HEE HEE...

It is so hard to get back into the groove after a day like yesterday. ;)

Elijah wore these spy glasses all day! I think I know what he would like for Christmas. :)

And this is why my back is so sore today! Mrs. E gave me a workout!

Mr. C is just like my boys! It is so neat to see him at work.

Moving Air

Elijah experimented with the energy of moving air. :)

And he found that a soda bottle was not empty and that the air inside of it would prevent him from blowing up the ballon.

Puppy Time

They "Little Eenies" still have regular lessons from the boys. Recently Elijah shared some great reading with his and Remy showed Piper the ways of an author. :)

We love our puppies. :)

Elijah's Surface Tension Experiment

We gathered a bowl of water and we gently put the small square of mesh on top of the water.

Elijah then VERY gently placed the cork on top of the mesh.
Photobucket

With a dropper he added a drop of liquid detergent to the water near the little "raft" he had created.

Photobucket

This is what happened....

Now that is called "breaking the tension"! Yea, yea, yea, we are pretty corny here.

Cricketology

Another child-led project in our home took place from Remy's interests. You all know he adores bugs. He checked out this library book on Crickets.

This book led to cricket keeping. We found some habitats and they both made a cricket friend to tend to. It was so fun to see Remy read this book first, all by himself, and then to light a passion for reading it in his brother. Elijah had to read it and then he also had to have a cricket pet.

I really enjoy these two scientists!

My oldest unschooling himself ;)

Elijah has really taken off with educating himself here lately. It is very exciting to watch. One day we took off from school. I felt our day had amounted to, well, not much. Then I saw this!

He said this was a California Quail.

He drew the state, labeled it with important features complete with a key, and he drew what he says was the capitol building. I just took his word for it.

You have to love an environment that enhances that! I am so thankful for homeschooling.

Crab Apple Jelly and a Fall Walk

The boys picked some crab apples and grew tired of it. I took the boys on a walk while my hubby man picked the apples.

~*~*~Veteran's Day~*~*~

Today we went to the local aviation museum.

This is a robe presented to one of the men highlighted in the museum.

There was a section for war rations and these recipes were there. We *may* try one.

The boys loved the moon rocks on display. :) I just wanted to touch it!

We also made our free Veteran's Day lapbook. You can find it at http://www.currclick.com/.

I picked up this paper and the boys put it on the back of their lapbooks.

I also called my grandfather and we had a wonderful talk. :) Thankyou to the men and women who are so very disciplined to find the courage to do the wondrous job of keeping us free.
